The ‘Fast Action Scheme’ (the Scheme) was launched jointly by HKBPA and C & ED to combat infringements upon IP rights in large scale exhibitions. Under the Scheme members can file information about their IP rights in our database. When there is suspect of infringement identified in an exhibition and a complaint is received, HKBPA will deliver corresponding information about the infringed right to C & ED for verification.
Fast Action Scheme was firstly adopted by C & ED in exhibitions held in October, 2006. Up to Dec 2021, a total of 133 exhibitions were monitored by C & ED and HKBPA under the Scheme.
In a normal proceeding about infringement by the Customs and Excise Department (C & ED), once a report is received, C & ED will require one to two weeks for identifying and verifying the owner of the infringed IP right. However, the normal duration of an exhibition is only about four days.
